Plans start at $1,500 a month, month to month, no setup fee. We get contractors to the top of Google in the towns they actually work in, then we keep them there.
What contractor SEO actually involves.
- Google Business Profile. The profile is where most contractor calls come from. We fill it out properly, post to it, and keep it clean.
- Pages for what you do. A real page for every service and every town you work in, written so Google knows exactly what you do and where.
- Reviews on autopilot. A text goes out after the job. Reviews are the biggest lever on the map pack and most shops never ask.
- Site speed and mobile. Your customers are standing in a driveway on a phone. If the page is slow they hit back and call the next guy.
- Citations and listings. Your name, address and number the same everywhere, so Google trusts which business you are.
- Calls tracked, not clicks. You get a dashboard and a monthly report that shows calls and booked jobs, not impressions.
Why most contractors are invisible.
Most contractors have a profile they set up once and a website somebody built for them years ago. Nothing points at the other, the service pages do not exist, and the last review is from 2021. Google has no reason to put you ahead of the shop down the road, so it does not.
Contractor SEO is not complicated, it is just work nobody on the tools has time for. Fix the profile, build the pages for the jobs you want, get the reviews coming in, keep the listings consistent. Do that for a few months straight and the phone starts going. We did it for Doucet, who now sits at number one in Halifax for excavation searches, and for PropertyWorx in the Annapolis Valley.
If you want the map pack specifically, that is local SEO. If you want to be the name ChatGPT gives when somebody asks who to hire, that is AI search. Most contractors need both, and both are in the Dominate program.
What is contractor SEO, in plain terms?
Contractor SEO is the work that gets your business to show up when someone near you searches for what you do. Somebody types roofer near me, or septic install cost, into Google. A short list of companies comes up. SEO is how you get on that list and stay on it.
It is not magic and it is not a trick. It is a pile of small, boring jobs done right and done every month. Your Google profile filled out properly. Your business name, address and phone number the same everywhere online. A website that loads fast on a phone and says plainly what you do and where you do it. Reviews coming in steady.
SEO for construction companies works the same way as SEO for any trade. The difference is that a contractor's customer is usually local, usually in a hurry, and usually picking from the first few names they see. That changes where you put the effort.
Why does the map pack matter more than the regular Google results?
When someone searches for a trade, Google usually shows a map with a few businesses under it, above the regular list of websites. That box is the map pack. For a contractor, that is where the phone calls come from.
Think about how you'd find a plumber with water on the basement floor. You look at the map, you see who is close, you check the stars, and you hit call. You don't scroll down and read ten websites. Your customers do the exact same thing.
The regular blue links still matter. They feed the map, they catch people doing research before a big job, and they pick up the searches with a price or a question in them. But if you only have the budget for one fight, fight for the map.
What does Google actually look at for a contractor?
Start with your Google Business Profile. Your main category is the big one. If you dig foundations and your profile just says contractor, you are telling Google less than you could. Pick the category that matches the work you want most, add the secondary ones, then fill in your services, service area, hours and photos of real jobs. Our Google Business Profile guide for contractors walks through it step by step.
Next is reviews. Google looks at how many you have, how good they are, and how recent they are. A company with new reviews coming in every month looks busy. One that got a batch of reviews years ago and nothing since looks like it might have shut down. Here is how to get more Google reviews without it feeling awkward.
Then citations. Those are listings of your business on directories and other sites around the web. Google checks that your name, address and phone match everywhere. If one listing has your old company name and your old number, and another has the new name and your cell, that mismatch works against you.
Last is your website. Google wants a separate page for each main service, so one for driveways, one for septic, one for foundations. It wants those pages to load fast on a phone. And it wants to see the towns you work in written on the site, not just in your head.
Does SEO work differently for roofers, excavators and landscapers?
The basics are the same. The timing is not. A roofer gets slammed after a big wind storm and in the spring when people find shingles in the yard. An excavation company's busy months follow the frost. A landscaper's phone lights up the first warm weekend and goes quiet by November.
SEO takes time to build, so the work has to happen before your busy season, not during it. If you want spring landscaping calls, your service pages and Google posts need to be in place over the winter. Starting when the phone should already be ringing is too late.
The searches are different too. Excavation customers search for prices and specific jobs like septic systems and driveways. Roofing customers often search when something is already leaking, so being close and having good reviews wins the call. Landscaping customers want to see the work, so a profile full of real job photos does a lot of the selling. We have pages for excavation contractors, roofers and landscapers that get into the details.
HVAC, plumbing and pressure washing follow the same pattern. Same groundwork, different calendar, different services to push first.
Does contractor SEO actually work?
Here is what it looks like with real clients. Doucet Landscaping does excavation and stonework. They rank number one on Google for excavation cost halifax and have 62 five star Google reviews. People searching that are usually already pricing out a job. You can read how that came together in the Doucet case study.
PropertyWorx does exterior cleaning in the Annapolis Valley. When someone asks Google about pressure washing in the Valley, Google's AI Overview names them. That is the newest spot on the results page, and it sits above the map and above the links.
We also work with a property management company in Bedford that grew its organic traffic 68 percent in four months. Not a contractor, but the same kind of local business and the same kind of work.
How long does SEO take for a contractor?
Most contractors see movement in 60 to 90 days. Movement means showing up for more searches, climbing in the map, and more calls coming from Google. It does not mean you own the top spot by month two.
Competitive terms take longer. A roofer going after roofing in a big city, up against a crowd of established companies, has a longer road than an excavator going after septic installs in a rural county.
The first month is mostly setup. Audit the site, fix what is broken, clean up the Google profile, build the citations. After that it is steady monthly work. Posts, blog content, links and reviews, every month, each one stacking on the last.
How much does contractor SEO cost?
Our prices are right here on the site. The Get Found program is $1,500 a month. Dominate is $2,500 a month. Market Leader is priced per market, because owning a whole area costs different amounts in different places.
Get Found covers the groundwork. A full website audit. Site fixes for speed, mobile and on page SEO. Your Google Business Profile set up properly. 100 local citations built once, with your name, address and phone the same on every one. A content strategy, 2 Google posts a month, 1 blog post a month and 1 guest post link a month. Help getting Google reviews. Quality backlinks that are built, not bought. And a video report every month so you can see what got done.
Dominate adds more of everything plus the newer stuff. 2 blog posts a month, weekly Google posts, map pack work and a strategy call every two weeks. AI search work, so ChatGPT and Google's AI cite your business. AI lead capture and auto booking. And an automated review system.
There is no setup fee and no contract. It is month to month and you can cancel any time. If we are not earning it, you should not be paying for it. For a wider look at what agencies charge and what you should get for it, read how much SEO costs for a contractor.
Should I do my own SEO or hire someone?
You can do a fair bit yourself. Fill out your Google profile completely. Ask every happy customer for a review. Make sure your phone number is the same everywhere it shows up. Those three cost nothing and they matter.
The trouble is the monthly grind. Writing posts, building links, fixing listings, checking where you rank. Most contractors would rather be on a machine or on a roof, and they should be. That is where hiring someone makes sense.
If you are shopping for contractor SEO services in Canada, ask three things. Who actually does the work. What you get every month. And whether you are locked into a contract. RankWright is owner operated, so the person you talk to is the person doing the work.
What should I do next?
Start with a free audit. We look at your Google profile, your website and how you stack up against the other companies in your area, then tell you plainly what is holding you back.
If you would rather talk it through, call (902) 292-5699. We are based in Nova Scotia and work with contractors all over Atlantic Canada. You will get Hayden on the phone, not a sales team.
